The Long Night That Lies Ahead

And once again you've found me
In the only way that you can
You've swallowed all my thoughts
And now you're drowning all my senses
And you gradually surround me
As I dance beside McGahan
In this pyrotechnic paradise
You're perfectly relentless

You're simply irresistible
And I answer every one of your calls
It's momentary madness, but I'm aware of this
And I'm a man on a mission
You grab my hair without a care
And we thrust against a wall, and another wall
And with animal exuberance
We release all inhibitions

And it's the long night that lies ahead
An hour's gone, and now it's started
It's far too long since you departed
It's the long night that lies ahead
And you've left me broken and empty
And so depressed

Instinctively inseparable
I'm enthralled within you, and your existence
You lead me down to a darkened room
And we kiss
Increasingly irreparable
I'm in awe even though you're destroying me
For as long as I can remember
I've never felt like this

And it's the long night that lies ahead
An hour's gone, and now it's started
It's far too long since you departed
It's the long night that lies ahead
And you've left me broken and empty
And so depressed

And the room is cold and far too bright
And I'm slowly drifting through the night
Constantly awaken by the aching in my chest
I stare up at the empty ceiling, body starts to drain of feeling
But somehow that's much better than it was before
I wish my mind would do the same
Instead it's screaming out her name:
I simply can't forget her, the woman I adore
And there's not much more of this that I can take
I'm far too scared to simply stay awake
And I'm deafened by the sound of nothing whatsoever
Feeling null, and void, and petrified, and paranoid
For as long as I can remember
I've never felt like this
And I never want to feel like this again

And it's the long night that lies ahead
An hour's gone, and now it's started
It's far too long since you departed
It's the long night that lies ahead
And you've left me broken and empty
And so depressed

Three More Days

Now I've never been the kind of guy to introduce or even try
But then I saw you and I don't know why, but I changed
And then my confidence was captured with spontaneous suggestion
And all I had to do was go and ask a simple question
But the words were proving difficult to find, difficult to find...

And I'd barely had the time to think
Well should we go for a dance, or a quiet drink?
A romantic meal, and maybe flowers?
And I was left with seconds but I needed hours
And so I rise above my seat, and my palms start to sweat
And my heart skips four beats, and then her eyes met
Oh no...I'd better go over and talk to her!

And I know we've never met and I'm frantic
But hey, I'm just trying to be romantic
I got this funny feeling, d'ya fancy drinks tomorrow evening?
Yeah, there's simply nothing more to say
I'm only here for three more days
Yeah, tomorrow evening, what d'ya say?
'cause I'm only here for three more days

And so I try and search for signs, and think of words I should have said
And now the question's gone, and the lines they just keep running through my head
And she glances down then looks around and meets me in the eye
We share a smile, it's all worthwhile, I've given her my reply
Oh yeah...I'm gonna keep-on talking to her!

And I know we've never met and I'm frantic
But hey, I'm just trying to be romantic
I got this funny feeling, d'ya fancy drinks tomorrow evening?
Yeah, there's simply nothing more to say
I'm only here for three more days
Pretty soon, yeah, I'll be on my way
'cause I'm only here for three more days

And now you're sat beside me on a Friday evening
In two days time, girl, I'm gonna be leaving
And there's simply nothing more to say, I really wish that I could stay
But I simply can't stay, no I can't stay...

And I know we've never met and I'm frantic
But hey, I'm just trying to be romantic
I got this funny feeling, d'ya fancy drinks tomorrow evening?
Yeah, there's simply nothing more to say
I really wish that I could stay
Perhaps we'll meet again one day
And maybe that's the only way

The Love Is Dead

We've got a boy from the city, lives a life of his own
And yet it seems such a pity that he's never alone...
He's got a girl on his arm with a place in his heart
But as the clock ticks away, they're drifting further apart
He spends a night on the town, but she's bringing him down
She sends him text after text and makes him look like a clown
And it seems a rare occasion, that they don't spend time together
But even on these instances it still requires endeavour

They tend to disagree on things that barely have a meaning
And her friends had seen him kissing girls in clubs he'd never been in
It's the time he spends without his friends when it's clear how much he'll need 'em
On the endless nights and pointless fights that leave him seeking freedom
He gotta get out, gotta get out, gotta get out, gotta get out...

The execution's over
And it's challenging belief
And the only thing that's certain
Is the feeling of relief
It's left him feeling numb
His eyes are sore from what she said
He doesn't need to come 'round here no more
The love is dead

It seems that time's divided them and twisted their intentions
And the girls he's met along the way, she feels inclined to mention
It's not that he won't miss the endless chats and constant kisses
But he won't miss being greeted every week with "Where's the Mrs?"
Temptation always seems to win, the band of trust is broken
They're both aware of equal sin, the truth is always spoken
So what do you do, when it falls apart
And you've lasted all these years?
A lease of life, a broken heart
The bastard draws the tears...

The spark has disappeared and left an awkward smell of tension
Instead of curing years of pain, he's looking for prevention
I know it's disconcerting, and it's tearing him in two
But he needs to stop it hurting, and it's the only thing to do
He gotta get out, gotta get out, gotta get out, gotta get out...

The execution's over
And it's challenging belief
And the only thing that's certain
Is the feeling of relief
It's left him feeling numb
His eyes are sore from what she said
He doesn't need to come 'round here no more
The love is dead

Withdrawal Symptoms

Ignoring apprehension and the hurt that they're bound to 'cause
With innocent intentions as they flirt without a pause
And what makes it even worse is there's nothing that he can do
Just like romance in reverse it's left him feeling black and blue

And their subtle innuendo's lead to endless nights of passion
Developing some feelings in a rather awkward fashion
From the moment they first met when in a crowded room they kissed
To the way he strokes her neck with a touch so soft she just can't resist

And their hearts are moving nearer as they're torn apart by the distance
Connections 'coming clearer as they battle-on with resistance
And the simple smell of perfume or the sound of her beautiful voice
And the thing that makes it harder is that they know that there's simply no choice

His passion overwhelms him and he's desperate for one more fix
And no matter what she tells him, he'll be wary of every one of her little tricks
And it's blatantly apparent every time that they meet
That just half-an-hour later, they'll be back beneath the sheets
And his friends don't understand why he's still pining for this stranger
And he'll just one more kiss when every time he's left in danger
And she pulls him in further and further every time
He drops his boxing guard
He just about forgets her, and then it hits him
Three times as hard

And their hearts are moving nearer as they're torn apart by the distance
Connections 'coming clearer, as they battle-on with resistance
And the simple smell of perfume or the sound of her beautiful voice
And the thing that makes it harder, is that they know that there's simply no choice

And their contact is irregular, but he knows it's for the best
And by sending drunken texts to her she's hardly gonna be impressed
Instead he's treading carefully and ignoring what he hears
From her so-called fucking friends
A tight-rope of emotion, there's only one way this can end...

And their hearts are moving nearer as they're torn apart by the distance
Connections 'coming clearer, as they battle-on with resistance
And the simple smell of perfume or the sound of her beautiful voice
And the thing that makes it harder
Is that they know that there's simply no choice

The Thrill of Thirty Seconds

It was five-past the hour when you said your train was due
But in the spirit of the evening I arrived on fifty-two
I was going through my inbox on a regular basis
And occasionally scanning through all the rush-hour faces
I wondered down the platform, but I could not see a sign
I looked-up at the clock, and it was only fifty-nine
Just you and me together, that's the way it needs to be
I'm standing here, waiting for you, on Platform 23

It feels like time is slowing down for our secret rendezvous in town
As anticipation beckons I start counting-down the seconds
My heart beats fast but the clock ticks slowly, you could be my one and only
As anticipation beckons I've felt the thrill of thirty seconds
Felt the thrill of thirty seconds

It almost seems too perfect as you glide along the floor
I looked for imperfections and loved everything I saw
I'd never felt so scared, infatuated or excited
I felt just like a school-boy, and for some reason I liked it
I wondered down the platform, but I could not see a sign
I looked-up at the clock, and it was only fifty-nine
Just you and me together, that's the way it's gonna be
I'm standing here, waiting for you, on Platform 23

It feels like time is slowing down for our secret rendezvous in town
As anticipation beckons I start counting-down the seconds
My heart beats fast but the clock ticks slowly, you could be my one and only
As anticipation beckons I've felt the thrill of thirty seconds
Felt the thrill of thirty seconds

And I could not seem to settle, so I tried to make a call
And then I suddenly remembered, what you'd written on my wall
It wasn't even special, just the fact that it was you
And the fact that we were meeting, was just too good to be true

It feels like time is slowing down for our secret rendezvous in town
As anticipation beckons I start counting-down the seconds
My heart beats fast but the clock ticks slowly, you could be my one and only
As anticipation beckons I've felt the thrill of thirty seconds

Time is slowing down for our secret rendezvous in town
As anticipation beckons I start counting-down the seconds
My heart beats fast but the clock ticks slowly, you could be my one and only
As anticipation beckons I've felt the thrill of thirty seconds
Felt the thrill of thirty seconds

Felt the thrill of thirty seconds
Felt the thrill of thirty seconds
Felt the thrill of thirty seconds

The Charismatic Mister McGahan

Instant attraction every single time
Like a chain reaction, they wait in line
Infatuation, like a moth to a flame
Guaranteed sensation, they'll scream his name
He scans the dance-floor and takes his pick
No need for lines, though, he knows the trick
He's not familiar with being by himsen'
It's not a case of "will ya?", It's a case of "when?"

He's got that smile on his face, got those Irish eyes
Any time, any place, there's no need to try

He's gonna kiss ya, he can't resist ya
He's got charisma, and he can't resist her
And then he takes all the ladies 'cause he knows that he can
The charismatic Mister McGahan
That special feeling, in between your thighs
He starts to leave and they're mesmerised
They start to chase him, to see what they can
The charismatic Mister McGahan

He said "What's your name, love?"
And she left a pause...
She knew exactly what his game was
And said "Call me yours..."
It didn't seem to faze him, as he took her by the hand
All the over girls were gazing, and that's exactly what he'd planned

You've only got to see him and you're left in awe
All the fella's want to be him, and all the girls want more
We scream aloud but he simply talks
He wins the crowd with just how he walks
Winding and weaving from wall-to-wall
Even when it's heaving, he gets them all

That smile on his face, got those Irish eyes
Any time, any place, there's no need to try...

He's gonna kiss ya, he can't resist ya
He's got charisma, and he can't resist her
And then he takes all the ladies 'cause he knows that he can
The charismatic Mister McGahan
That special feeling, in between your thighs
He starts to leave and they're mesmerised
They start to chase him, to see what they can
The charismatic Mister McGahan

One Way Traffic

And like a street lined with litter on a Sunday morning
You left me bitter, left me with no warning
You had to go. And left me thinking, did you have to go?
And then you sent me a text, and I was desperate to reply
But to tell you that I'm happy, would have been a desperate lie
And every time I talk to you, I struggle not to cry
I still adore you, and I'm sure I should ignore you
And these lists of problems, seem to come without thinking
Almost like they've been rehearsed, and I can feel my heart sinking

It's time to go. The tension makes me feel inclined to go

So will you please stop texting when I'm least expecting? I still love you
And then I went on Facebook and removed all trace but I still love you
And all those songs you'd place are driving me insane, I still love you
And then I'll say it again and embarrass myself, I still love you

As if it wasn't rough enough, when we split-up in the first place
You've made it tough, and you've left us in the worst case scenario
It doesn't have to be this hard, you know
And then you tell me we're friends, and I tell you that it's fine
But we both know I'm pretending, I'm pretending that it's fine
And every time I talk to you, I struggle not to cry
It's getting harder, harder every time
And you almost seem offended, when I ask for some answers
I ask you why it ended, wanting more chances

Your eyes say no. I wouldn't try and change your mind, you know

So will you please stop texting when I'm least expecting? I still love you
And then I went on Facebook and removed all trace but I still love you
And all those songs you'd place are driving me insane, I still love you
And then I'll say it again and embarrass myself, I still love you
So will you please stop texting when I'm least expecting? I still love you
And then I went on Facebook and removed all trace but I still love you
And all those songs you'd place are driving me insane, I still love you
And then I'll say it again and embarrass myself, I still love you

I still love you
I still love you
